GTA VI pricing, editions and pre-orders — everything confirmed

Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI opened on 25 June 2026, and the price tag has been one of gaming's hottest arguments ever since. Here is everything Rockstar and Take-Two have actually confirmed about pricing, editions and pre-orders — and, just as importantly, what they have never said.

The release date has not moved. GTA VI launches on Thursday 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two restated the date at its earnings call on 6 August 2026 and kept its fiscal 2027 net bookings guidance unchanged at 8.0–8.2 billion dollars. Pre-load begins on 12 November, a week before launch.

The confirmed prices: the Standard Edition costs 79.99 dollars, 69.99 pounds or 79.99 euros. The Ultimate Edition costs 99.99 dollars, 89.99 pounds or 99.99 euros. The dollar figures come straight from Rockstar and Take-Two material. The euro and pound figures are confirmed by TechRadar and PC Games Hardware, but appear nowhere on a Rockstar-owned page — worth remembering when you compare numbers.

What is in the Ultimate Edition? It is digital only; there is no boxed Ultimate. You get the base game, the Vintage Vice City Pack, one free month of GTA+, a ´95 Grotti Cheetah, Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, personalised weapon finishes, Vice City style clothing, Jason's safehouse vehicles, a ´67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, a Shitzu Squalo boat and access to several mod shops, a tattoo parlour, a salon and clothing stores inside the game. This is cosmetics and convenience — not story. No part of the main campaign is locked behind the more expensive edition.

The pre-order bonus: the Vintage Vice City Pack comes with both editions at no extra cost if you order before 20 November. It contains a ´55 Vapid Stanier and the Shore Court Garage, two luxury outfits each for Jason and Lucia, and a weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti. One free month of GTA+ also comes with both editions when pre-ordered.

There is no disc. This is the detail that has annoyed players most. Rockstar's own support documentation confirms the box contains a download code rather than a disc: "A disc will not be included in the box." The so-called code-in-a-box version of the Standard Edition is therefore the only physical release, and it ships from 12 November. For PS5 Pro owners — a console with no built-in drive at all — this changes nothing anyway.

In Iceland the picture is more interesting than you would expect. ELKO is taking pre-orders for GTA VI on PS5 at 10,995 ISK at the time of writing, with delivery estimated for November. The Icelandic PlayStation Store, by contrast, prices in euros rather than krónur: 79.99 euros is roughly 11,300 ISK at the mid-market rate, and more once your card issuer adds its foreign transaction fee. Icelandic bricks-and-mortar retail is, in other words, cheaper than the digital route — which is not what most buyers assume.

What does Take-Two say about sales? CEO Strauss Zelnick described the pre-orders as "unprecedented and astonishing" and said they had vastly exceeded the company's internal forecasts — while giving no numbers at all. In a CNBC interview in August he added that the 99.99 dollar Ultimate Edition is outselling the 79.99 dollar Standard. That is a striking signal about what people are willing to pay, but no official sales figure has been published, and probably will not be until after launch.

What is NOT confirmed, despite everything circulating on social media: nothing about a PC version, nothing about online play or a GTA Online successor, no file size, no resolution and no frame rate. Everything you see on those subjects right now is guesswork, however confident it sounds.

Should you pre-order today? There is no rush. The game is digital in every form, so it cannot sell out, and the pre-order bonus runs all the way to 20 November. The only real reason to commit now would be to lock in a price before exchange rates move — but the króna has strengthened 3.6% against the dollar over the past month, so that argument currently runs the other way. If you are undecided: wait and see what "An Extended Look" shows on 27 August.
