Is GTA VI coming to PC? What is confirmed, and what is only rumour

The shortest and most honest answer to "is GTA VI coming to PC?" is this: Rockstar has never said a word about it. No date, no release window, not even a confirmation that a PC version is in development. Everything else you read on the subject is inference, guesswork or outright fabrication.

Start with what is confirmed. GTA VI launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That appears on Rockstar's official product page, in its support documentation and in the pre-order terms. In all of those places the platforms are listed — and PC is not among them. That silence is not an oversight; it is exactly the pattern Rockstar has followed every single time.

The history is unambiguous. GTA V launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. The PC version arrived in April 2015 — nineteen months later. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in October 2018; its PC version arrived in November 2019, thirteen months later. Rockstar has never shipped a major GTA title on PC alongside consoles. If the company holds to form, that points to a PC release somewhere between late 2027 and mid-2028.

What Take-Two has actually said: CEO Strauss Zelnick has talked about PC in general terms, not about GTA VI specifically. He has said Rockstar prioritises consoles because "you're judged by serving the core," and has separately noted that PC can represent 45–50% of sales for a major Take-Two launch. That is reasoning about a business model, not an announcement. Do not read it as confirmation.

The rumour: in April 2026 the leaker "DetectiveSeeds" claimed the PC version was targeting February 2027, reasoning that Take-Two would want the revenue inside its fiscal year, which ends in March. The sourcing was three former Rockstar employees who replied to LinkedIn messages — out of more than 90 contacted. DetectiveSeeds themselves said the target "isn't final." Three self-selected respondents out of ninety is not a source; it is a sample that chose itself. File this as rumour and nothing more.

The new signal — and it is genuinely interesting. The leak that began on 18 August 2026 has unexpectedly given the PC question new life. Jason Schreier at Bloomberg confirmed the leaker had access to a real, playable build of the game rather than just pre-recorded footage. Developers have pointed out that console devkits are licence-locked hardware, hard to obtain outside official channels, while PC builds run on ordinary hardware via internal debug executables. From that, many have inferred the leak came from a PC build — and therefore that a PC build already exists and is playable internally.

Be careful with that inference. Schreier did not say it. It is an interpretation drawn by outlets and third-party developers from what he reported. And even if it is right, it says nothing about a release date: a PC build existing internally is a completely different thing from a PC build being ready to sell. Almost every major game is developed on PC.

Confirmed false: the widely shared claim that the leaker threatened to release the entire PC build. Insider Gaming published that story, then retracted it and apologised — it rested on fabricated screenshots from someone impersonating the leaker. The story is still circulating on social media. It is dead.

So what should you do if you play on PC? Do not pre-order anything, because there is nothing to pre-order. Do not trust any date you see, and absolutely do not trust any site offering paid "early access" to a PC version — those are scams, and they have already started appearing. If you want to play in November, you need a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S. If you can wait, every piece of historical precedent points to a wait of roughly one to one and a half years after the console release.

We will update this article the moment Rockstar says anything official. Until then: a PC version of GTA VI is not confirmed, and nobody outside Rockstar knows when it is coming.
