Everything confirmed about GTA VI — and everything that is not

This is our reference page. Here is every single item Rockstar Games, Take-Two or Netflix have themselves confirmed about Grand Theft Auto VI — and an equally precise list of what remains unanswered. We update it as new information arrives.

When does GTA VI release? Thursday 19 November 2026. Confirmed by Rockstar on the Newswire and restated by Take-Two at its earnings call on 6 August 2026.

On which platforms? PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nothing else.

Is it coming to PC? Nothing has been confirmed. Rockstar has never mentioned a PC version. For comparison, GTA V's PC release came nineteen months after the console version, and Red Dead Redemption 2's came thirteen months after.

What does it cost? Standard costs 79.99 dollars, 69.99 pounds or 79.99 euros. Ultimate costs 99.99 dollars, 89.99 pounds or 99.99 euros. In Iceland, ELKO lists Standard at 10,995 ISK.

When did pre-orders open? 25 June 2026, on digital storefronts and at selected retailers.

What comes with a pre-order? The Vintage Vice City Pack and one free month of GTA+, with both editions, if ordered before 20 November.

Is there a disc in the box? No. Rockstar's support documentation confirms the box contains a download code: "A disc will not be included in the box." Boxed versions ship from 12 November.

When does pre-load begin? 12 November, at local midnight.

Who are the protagonists? Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Lucia is the first playable female protagonist in a mainline GTA.

Where is it set? In Vice City, in the fictional state of Leonida. The official description follows two people attempting one good score that goes wrong and drags them into a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state.

What has been shown? Two trailers: the first in December 2023 and the second in May 2025. Both are cinematic trailers with no actual gameplay. "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" premiered on Netflix on 27 August 2026 at 19:00 Icelandic time and went out free on Rockstar's YouTube channel at 01:00 on 28 August.

What do the numbers say? The first trailer set a Guinness World Record with 90,421,491 YouTube views in 24 hours. The second drew 475 million views across all platforms combined in 24 hours — note that these two figures are not comparable, as the first is YouTube alone.

What does Take-Two say? The company maintains fiscal 2027 net bookings guidance of 8.0–8.2 billion dollars. CEO Strauss Zelnick described pre-orders as "unprecedented and astonishing" and said Ultimate is outselling Standard. No sales figures have been published.

Is it coming to Nintendo Switch 2? No. Rockstar has not mentioned the Switch 2 in any context and the machine is not on the list of supported platforms.

Does the old GTA Online continue? Yes. Rockstar shipped GTA Online event weeks throughout August 2026, thirteen years after that game launched. Nothing suggests it will be shut down when GTA VI arrives.

How much storage does it need? Rockstar has not said. Estimates based on comparable games land between 200 and 250 gigabytes with a day-one patch, but that is guesswork rather than a Rockstar figure.

How long is the game? Nothing has been confirmed. Claims of five story chapters come from a leaker and are unverified.

Can you upgrade from Standard to Ultimate? Yes. Per Rockstar's support documentation you can upgrade at any time through your console's store.

Now what is NOT confirmed, and which we therefore label as rumour or uncertainty: online play of any kind, including whether the game is single-player at launch; file size; resolution and frame rate on any machine; map size; whether you can switch between Jason and Lucia; the voice cast; county names in Leonida; whether the game will be delayed again.

And one thing that is confirmed FALSE: that the leaker threatened to release the entire PC build. Insider Gaming published that story and then retracted it — the source was a fabricated screenshot.
